Nichia's founder, Nobuo Ogawa, was a graduate of the pharmaceutical chemistry department of Tokushima Technical High School (the predecessor of Tokushima University). After WWII, he established the “Kyodo Pharmaceutical-Laboratory,” the predecessor of Nichia, with a strong desire to contribute to the reconstruction of his hometown, Tokushima.
