After 15 years with a manufacturer of component parts - a company where she had risen from secretary to vice-president and ended up with 25% of the firm's stock - Lana Scott-Whaley wasn't happy with starting just any old company, she wanted it to be the best. Her passion for excellence and her ambition to be the best was infectious, so much so that her husband David Whaley left a secure job with the California Institute of the Arts, took a mortgage out on their home, and launched their dream. With chins high and smiles wide, they turned on the lights at HOOSIER on May 1, 1979 - a 4,000 square foot facility with few a pieces of equipment and a handful of clients.
